My Ten Best Action Figures This Year (The Avengers)

The Avengers

These are my choices for the ten best action figures that were made lately in the order I soldout of them.

I am very pleased with the quality of the “Avengers” action figures.  It’s by no coincidence that the maker of these action figures is a company called “Hot Toys” which has really been leading the way (or should I say “Blazing the Way!).  By now, Hot Toys has been recognized as the industry leader using state of the art techniques to create incredible works of art (I think so anyways).  Before the advancements were used to improve the detail of the action figures of today; they had a toyish look to them, the paint wasn’t so life-like, the faces were a bit like comic book characters.

  1. ·         Hawk-eye

2.  Black Widow

 3.   3.   Iron Man

·        Hot Toys - Battle Damaged Mark VII Limited Edition Collectible Figurine (Movie Promo Edition)PR7

       I first took notice of The Hong Cong Company “Hot Toys” about 2003.  They were producing highly detailed Allied and U.S. Military action figures involved in the Iraqi War & the Afghanistan War since about 2000.   At that time, the best action figures I was aware of, were the 12-inch GI Joes, which had become 4” or 6” tall. And then GI Joe made a comeback to 12-inch that was a boost to the industry.  I believe they were responding to the success of the 1990’s Toy Company called “21st Century”.  Unfortunately they went out of business, and Hot Toys seemed to compete for the top spot and took it from Hasbro.  I wonder how many of you still remember the old “Johnny West” Cowboy action figures.  That’s a topic for another day. 🙂

·        4.  Captain America

·         5.  Loki

       Now Hot Toys and other action figures manufacturers (SideShow Collectibles, DID & 3R, Soldier Story, Cal Tek, Dragon, and many others) have followed suit making action figures and their accessories as detailed as possible.   So now that the collectible action figures are being developed to their full potential which by the way is not an easy task.  These action figures are of the 12-inch (1/6) scale, which means the scaling down, and management of the details to stay life-like, and/or realistic, is quite a tedious task.

      6.  Thor·

<a target=”_blank” href=””>Thor 2 Movie</a><img src=”″ width=”1″ height=”1″ border=”0″ alt=”” style=”border:none !important; margin:0px !important;” />

<a target=”_blank” href=””>The Incredible Hulk</a><img src=”″ width=”1″ height=”1″ border=”0″ alt=”” style=”border:none !important; margin:0px !important;” />

        Then I noticed Hot Toys did a series of Firefighters, a Lt. Firefighter 2.0 action figure, and a Trainee was produced, probably in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks where a large group of Firefighters were trapped and killed inside the collapsing towers.

Maria Hill

       { Maria Hill was not produced by Hot Toys so far, but there is time later if they decide to do that.}

{This is a Pre-Order that just became available from Hot Toys and SideShow Collectibles.}

As time went on, and my interest in this hobby grew, I noticed Hot Toys and other action figure producers were creating action figures from the popular movie characters.  The Blade action figure was a great success in my opinion.  I noticed the HellBoy action figure showed up, after that RoboCop, then Edward Scissor-Hands, Indiana Jones, Terminator,  Predator, Alien, etc, etc.  There are just too many to mention, it would be a huge list.

As they say “The Rest Is History!”
